A Short History of Nearly Everything

If you asked us how we met, Renata would rattle off a random, slightly embarrassing story (ask her about it sometime!) and I, honestly, couldn’t tell you. And it doesn’t matter. After 4 years of high school, different colleges, 2 weddings, 5 babies and 1 rather crowded co-owned house – that’s 12 years going strong – I’d say our friendship counts. I’m not sure exactly when this was taken, but it has to be one of our first pictures:

(Tim and Patrick, if you’re reading this, sorry for posting this picture:))

Back then, we were obsessed with American Eagle, Jennifer Knapp, 10 Things I Hate About You and our yearbook class. Who knew that 12 years later, we’d be raising our families and in business together?

After quitting my day job and being asked by a friend to shoot my first wedding ever, I knew I would need a partner. Unbeknownst to me, Renata had been praying about finding work that would enable her to stay at home with her kids. Funny enough, she was the first person that came to my mind. We shot our first wedding in February 2008, with a Nikon D80 and D40, 2 lenses to our name and no experience.

At Jess & Brent’s wedding, our very first.

And we were hooked. I had started a blog to archive my experiences in learning photography. It became our marketing tool and soon, we were actually receiving inquiries. We shot 9 weddings our first year with no formal advertising.

Since then, we’ve shot over 60 weddings collectively. Our families have purchased a home together (crazy, we know) and our kids frequently listen in on our weekly meetings. We’re so grateful to meet the people we do. To our past, present and future clients, we are indebted to you and your confidence in us. To our friends in the industry, you inspire us. To our families, you’re the reason we’ve committed to love. And to you the reader, we can’t say thank you enough for supporting us.

Here’s to love!
